Lay missionary Marga van Barschot has passed away

Former lay missionary Marga van Barschot passed away in Tanzania on Saturday, April 10. She was an associate member of the SMA from 1999 to 2019. Until her death, she was associated with the SMA community in Mwanza, Tanzania.

Van Barschot spent years as a lay missionary in Tanzania, working with young people. Among other things, she ran a home for boys. After her mission formally ended, Van Barschot remained in Tanzania. It became her life's work. Besides working for "her boys," she also provided support and encouragement to new SMA lay missionaries who came to Tanzania.

In recent years, Van Barschot's health declined somewhat, but she had no intention of returning to the Netherlands. She will most likely be buried in Tanzania. Marga van Barschot was 74 years old.
