New board appointed for Dutch province
During the provincial meeting of the Society for African Missions in mid-July, a new board was appointed for S.M.A. Netherlands. Father Fabian Gbortsu succeeds Father Jos Pijpers as provincial superior, who has left the board after many years of service.
Becoming a missionary field worker
For more than 150 years, S.M.A. missionaries have been traveling to Africa to work among the most abandoned people there. In collaboration with the local population, the missionaries—priests and lay people—strive to create a better world. To this day, S.M.A. missionaries are committed to the church and society, to justice and peace, to education and healthcare. New missionaries are still being sent out every year.
